2011 Poem A Day Challenge - Day 22
For today's prompt, write an "only one in the world" poem. This only one in the world might be a person, an animal, a place, or an object. Think of someone or something unique and write.

Our Island
Somewhere
Between a tea spoon of water
In the Mediterranean
And a dream
Of your greatest long lost love
Our Island
Arrive in the Lagoon
It glows at night
Under the larger of the two moons
There are magic rocks to discover
And the water is the purest known
But if you know how,
You will find the rocks
That turn the water into tea
There rests The Seaplane
A white de Havilland Otter
With bright orange stripes
New standards of fuel economy
More storage capacity that you would think
And once appeared in a child's bath tub
Up in Halifax, Nova Scotia
In the Jungle
You will find amazing monkeys
They become more amazing
The more you know them
And grow your friendship
There's a Tree House
That is the envy of both
Families of Robinson's
And tribes of Ewoks
If you know the password,
The ladder will be lowered
Find The Beach
That circles Our Island
As a little girl would
Twirl her finger
Around an auburn lock
The softest breeze
Makes music all it's own
Music that you hear and feel
Not with you your ears
Listen to your heart
On The Mountain
The Golden Palace
A moment out of time
Cherished and long forgotten
Amelia Earhart longs for a dance
Wearing her favorite little black dress
Ambroise Bierce will tell you about
His occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge
Mama Cass Elliott leads the band
Sammy Davis, Jr. keeps the joint hopping
And Jim Morrison is serving drinks
So you know they'll blow your mind
This is Our Island
The only home we've ever known
And the only place
I'll ever truly call my heart

I'm weeping right now. It's beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Hey, I know this place.
