2011 Poem A Day Challenge - Day 3

Today's prompt is to write a poem in which you imagine the world without you.

Man... of all the things to give someone like me. This is something that is reflected upon heavily in my darker moments. When the pain of living makes you want to stop all together. Then again, there is a side of me that feels that life would go on, and in the end, you are just another carbon based life form on a living world, no more, no less. And there is so much of my ego in both statements. This one is going to be something where I will have to dig deeper than before. I need to go beyond the inside and the personal, and instead, look at the loss of someone in a universal view. Not a loss of my self, but a loss of any self.

One less memory

One less hello

One less heartbreak
One less alone

One less story
One less laugh

One less kiss
One less journey

One less gathering
One less understanding

One less friendship
One less family

One less soul

One less me
One less you
